Although there are more than 800 Art Nouveau buildings in Riga, the title of the Art Nouveau Quarter is held by the so-called Quiet Centre of the city, which is where a number of buildings were constructed at the beginning of the 20th century, designed by such architects as Mikhail Eisenstein, Konstantīns Pēkšēns, Eižens Laube and others. The most lavishly adorned examples of Art Nouveau architecture in Riga can be seen on Alberta iela and in the vicinity thereof. The building at Alberta iela 12 houses the Art Nouveau Museum in the former apartment of architect Konstantīns Pēkšēns. Opposite the building, at Strēlnieku iela 9 is the Art Nouveau Pavilion that sells Latvian-made Art Nouveau artwork, souvenirs and more.
