A contemporary music concert in St. Peter’s Church on the 18th of October brought together RIAS “Kammerchor” (Germany), “Eric Ericsons Kammarkör” (Sweden), Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, and Latvian Symphony Orchestra conducted by Kaspars Putniņš, to perform one of the most complicated and greatest opuses of the 20th century – Igor Stravinsky’s “Symphony of Psalms”. Also participating in the concert was the Latvian Radio Choir and conductor Sigvards Kļava to take the listeners to the fairy-tale worlds of Kārlis Skalbe, Hans Christian Andersen and Brothers Grimm where, in addition to American composer David Lang’s “The Little Match Girl’s Passion”, the fairy-tale worlds created by composers Ēriks Ešenvalds and Līga Celma had their world premieres. Video projections by director Roberts Rubīns added an extra value to the concert, making it a contemporary art experience.
