Exhibition „Le plan du film and Other Scenarios” by the French contemporary art icon ORLAN opened at the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design on Friday, the 7th of November. The artist herself, French Ambassador to Latvia Stéphane Visconti, Director of the French Institute in Latvia Denis Duclos and other dignitaries participated in the opening ceremony. The exhibition showcases large-scale posters for imaginary films that present a retrospective of ORLAN’s artistic career and the pivotal moments in the artist’s life. The scenarios for the posters advertising non-existing films were written by members of “Orbīta”, the association of Latvia’s Russian-speaking poets. A special dedication to Riga – poster “ORLAN and Cinema”, inspired by the Riga-born film director Sergei Eisenstein’s film “Battleship Potemkin”. The exhibition in Riga will be on show until the 25th of January, 2015.
