On 1 August, „Social Reunion” was held at "Spilve" Airport, it was an interactive and entertaining event where Roberts Gobziņš had taken his place as a musical pilot, but creative representatives from „Hamlets” theatre troupe did everything to offer 1970ies/1980ies atmosphere and pre-departure mood to their guests. But Latvia Antique Automobile Club arrived at the event with their old-school cars.
A unique exhibition by Helēna Erte „Ceļotāji laikā” („Time travellers”) was opened within the event where Latvian celebrities were immortalized in ancient artwork and photographic retrospective. Olga Rajecka, a singer, sports woman Jeļena Prokopčuka, „Prāta Vētra” band, artist Elita Patmalniece, Māris Olste, journalist Ilze Jaunalksne and many others starred such historic personalities as Marlene Dietrich, Napoleon, Frida Kahlo Al Capone, etc.
„Those are comments on ancient photos, but basically these are copies of paintings or a free interpretation about the original theme. Sometimes too much, maybe it was not possible to get decent costumes ofr accessories or someone wanted to have more fun, so models had to take an improper role for themselves,” tells artist Helēna Erte.
Exhibition is curated in cooperation with „Rīgas mākslas telpa”. It is open at „Spilve” Airport, 140 Daugavgrīvas Street until 29 September from 12.00 to 18.00. Closed on Mondays. Entrance is 1 lat, for students and seniors it's 0.50 lats.
