Until 25 August, creative workshops and masterclasses within the children’s dance project „Mūzika, deja piedzīvojums!” („Music, dance adventure!”) curated by „Latvijas Koncerti” and The Welfare Department of Riga City Council are held at Engure Secondary School. In there, children and employees from 70 day care centres will join.
Chooreographer and dance teacher Agris Daniļevičs and teachers from „Dzirnas” dance studio as well as the excellent director Sigrid Strøm Reibo will lead masterclasses and workshops.
While visiting Engure, children will take part in several dance lessons, sports games and workshops. Every day has its own motto – „Es iepazīstos!” („I get acquainted!”), „Es protu un daru!” („I can and I do!”), „Es un mana komanda!” („Me and my team!”), „Es to paveicu!” („I did it!”), „Es atklāju ko jaunu!” („I explore new things!”).
The final events of the project are held in June, 2014, as a part of The European Capital of Culture programme during Riga Festival.
Project aim is to create a dance performance where The Latvian National Symphony Orchestra and around 100 children who are eight to eighteen years old will also join from following day care centres: „Čiekurs”, „Skudrupūznis” , „Vecmīlgrāvis”, „Kamene”, „Pirmais stāvs” and five partner organizations of The Welfare Department: day care centres „Sirdsgaisma”, „Roku rokā”, „Stropiņš”, „Patvērums”, „Torņakalns” and Children and Youth Centre of Riga municipality „Ilga”.
The dance performance will be created by director Sigrid Strøm Reibo, dance teacher and choreographer Agris Daniļevičs and Swedish conductor Christian Lindberg.
