The Exhibition “Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis and Rūdolfs Pērle” opened at the Riga Bourse Art Museum on the evening of the 14th of February. The exhibition will run from the 15th of February to the 23rd of March, giving the public an opportunity to compare works by the most famous Lithuanian painter Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis and the Latvian symbolist Rūdolfs Pērle. The concept of the exhibition as a combination of works by Čiurlionis and Pērle, artists who were of different nationalities but were born in the same year and lived their lives in parallel, was proposed by Osvaldas Daugelis, the Director at the M. K. Čiurlionis National Art Museum in Kaunas. Furthermore, Pērle used to emphasise that his works were greatly influenced by Čiurlionis. Both artists represent symbolism of the early 20th century. In their art, Čiurlionis and Pērle materialise the fragile world of feelings and emotions. Čiurlionis is more inclined towards the mystical and symbolist, whereas Pērle is closer down to earth.
