Almanac of Latvian Photography to be issued
Six contemporary documentary photo sessions are published at the almanac made by Elīna Ruka, Aija Bley, Diāna Tamane, Iveta Vaivode, Paulis Jakušonoks and Kaspars Podnieks. They researched privately and socially important themes through photography. Also a photo print is found in every almanac, as well.
Traditionally, description texts about photographies are added in order to improve Latvian photo theory and history development. Reflections about photo journalism by philosopher Kārlis Vērpe and an essay by art historian Ieva Lejasmeijere about this year's almanc collection are included.
Contributing authors will join the opening event. Everyone will be able to buy the almanac with discounted price which is four lats.
"FK" is the only media reflecting on significant photography events in Latvia improving photo criticism also offering an insight into foreign photography landscape. "FK" is available online (forokvartals.lv, LV, and fkmagazine.lv, EN).
The presentation of the almanac warms up "Rīgas Fotomēnesis" International Photography Festival in 2014 when Riga becomes The European Capital of Culture.
Riga Film Museum is located in Old Riga, 10/12 Peltava Street (coming in from Alksnājs Street).
