„Rīga 2014” exhibition „Kas dzintaram vēl padomā?”
This exhibition is curated in close cooperation with Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the main goal is to promote Riga es The European Capital of Culture and to present amber as the most beloved ancient jewel that Latvian people love for a long time.
Amber gas a very significant role in the European Capital of Culture programme pointing out that Riga is a hometown for amber.
Inga Ļašenko, the professor of Riga Technical University, produced the amber thread, but the well-known textile artist Iveta Vecenāne, in her part, made the thread and used it for her artworks.
Special guest, Latvian honorary consul in Ontaria Imants Purvs opened the exhibition in Toronto, also members of Canadian Latvian society took their parts. Latvian Craft Union in Canada and Artist Committee at Latvian Centre in Canada helped set up the exhibition.
