„Ladies' Paradise” shows present European fashion history
The sound records that characterize the brightest musical works from the 20th century and filming of the visual stories continues until the end of November. Ilona Brūvere, the author of the show, invites actors from theatres to apply for the best character roles.
In „Ladies’ Paradise” show, well-known personalities from various art fields will be represented through stylized daily life scenes. These will be such artists as Paul Poiret, Coco Chanel, Jackie Kennedy, Andy Warhol, Jean Paul Sartre, Mata Hari, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Pablo Picasso, Gertrude Stain and other artists whose works define the most significant fashion trends and cultural development through various times.
The following fashion and costume designers will be invited to create costumes for the characters represented in the film stories: Natālija Jansone, Žanete Auziņa, Indra Salcēviča, Ieva Veita, Elita Patmalniece, Rūta Kuplā, Roberts Krauze, Dace Krieviņa-Bahmane, Vita Radziņa and Sabīne Groza. The story characters will be played by Maija Doveika, Dārta Daneviča, Ieva Aleksandrova-Eklone, Jūlija Ļaha, Zane Daudziņa, Ligita Skujiņa, Raimonda Vazdika, Ērika Eglija, Normunds Bērzs, Ivars Brakovskis, Ģirts Rāviņš, Mārtiņš Liepa, Jānis Āmanis, Egīls Melbārdis and other well-known actors. The off-camera commentaries will be spoken by Mārtiņš Vilsons, Baiba Broka, Ģirts Ķesteris, Kristīne Nevarauska, Indra Roga, Elita Kļaviņa. Andris Freidenfelds and others.
Ten „Ladies’ Paradise” shows will offer a large historical material mixed with a bright stage design and acting performances. The show will introduce you to a splendid world of visual characters with the help of a make-up artist Baiba Grīna. The filming of „Ladies’ Paradise” will continue till the end of November and, therefore, it will offer 150 various scenes from daily life representing various times from the 20th century.
In spring, 2014, Ilona Brūvere will start the show rehearsals together with models, actors and dancers.The open-air show will be first presented in the summer evenings in 2014. The project is produced by „Kinolats” film studio and Media Communication Workshop and supported by: „Rīgas nami”, Riga Freeport, Association of Memorial Museums, The Botanical Garden of University of Latvia, „Lenta” factory, „Jūrmala SPA” and Riga Design factory. The project is curated by Diāna Čivle, the Head of „Rīga 2014” Foundation.
Apart from the significant projects of European Capital of Culture- „Ladies’ Paradise” and „Liktens lietu muzejs”, „Kinolats” film studio will also offer the newest documentary play „Tapieris”, a story about the king of tango Oskars Stroks. „Tapieris” will be played by Gints Grāvelis, Jakovs Rafalsons, Marija Bērziņa and Andris Bulis. The film is not only a reflection on the musician’s life and his career, it’s also a story about all the unexpected events in life, lucky coincidence and its unpredictable nature.
