ECB Cultural Days opening concert broadcasted on radio

ECB Cultural Days’ repertoire will also be presented to Latvian spectators on 18 October at The Great Guild. The concert starts at 19.00. You will hear performances by Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, The State Choir „Latvija”, violinist Baiba Skride, pianist Reinis Zariņš and organist Aivars Reinis. Conductor Ainārs Rubiķis will lead the concert. Check out the tickets on „Biļešu paradīze” box offices and online.
This concert will also have a live broadcast via Latvian Radio 3 programme „Klasika” at 19.00.
The concert at ECB Cultural Days in Frankfurt was opened with „Melancholy waltz” (composer Emīls Dārziņš), also musical works by Pēteris Barisons, Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns, Jāzeps Vītols, Ēriks Ešenvalds and Rihards Dubra were perfomed.
German audience was particularly excited about the overture from „Rienzi” opera composed by Richard Wagner. This musical piece turned out to be the highest point at the opening concert.
The concert in Riga will be opened with „Rienzi” overture, but „Melancholy Waltz” will be the final performance.
ECB Cultural Days in Frankfurt will be held until 15 November. During that time, soprano Inga Kalna, organist Iveta Apkalna, „Instrumenti” band as well as lute player Laima Jansone and percussionist Artis will visit Germany.
In addition to that, the following artworks will be included in the programme: „Long Life” theatre show directed by Alvis Hermanis (New Riga Theatre), „Mother, I Love You”, a film directed by Jānis Nords, „People Out There”, a film directed by Aik Karapetjan, documentaries made by Laila Pakalniņa, Ivars Zviedris and Herz Frank. Also readings of „Ardievu, Atlantīda” („Farewell, Atlantis”), a book by Valentīna Freimane, will be organized together with Latvian contemporary photo exhibition and an architecture exposition „Rīga top!”.
The State Chamber Orchestra „Sinfonietta Rīga”, Latvian Radio Choir and cellist Kristīne Blaumane will perform at the closing event of The Cultural Days on 15 November.

Each year, the European Cultural Days of the ECB focus on a different Member State of the European Union. In the autumn months Frankfurt am Main becomes the setting for many high-quality artistic performances, ranging from music, dance and theatre to art lectures and exhibitions, literary events and films, as well as events for children.
The ECB organises the Cultural Days together with the national central bank of the featured country and with the support of its many partners, who are committed to promoting European arts and culture.
