Monday, on October 28, Uģis Mitrevics, Chairman of Sigulda Municipality and Dainis Kalns, organizer of Sigulda Opera Music Festival, signed a contract for holding a 22th International Sigulda Opera Music Festival at Sigulda Castle ruines on August 1 – 3, 2014. The festival is included in the official programme of Riga- European Capital of Culture 2014.

A special show for children will be offered on Saturday, August 2 at 15.00.When signing the contract, both Mitrevics and Kalns agreed that it is a great achievement to be able to hold the festival in Sigulda again. „Sigulda Opera Music Festival organized by Dainis Kalns is a must-see classical music event in Sigulda, the city that is surrounded by so many picturesque landscapes. I am glad the festival tradition is continued,” said Uģis Mitrevics.

Opera Music Festival has reached a turning point this year as Dainis Kalns has offered Sigulda Municipality a new collaboration model. Previously, the festival was organized by „Sigulda Opera Music Festival” Foundation, but the city supported the event. The new model requires that Dainis Kalns now creates the festival conception which includes artists' bookings and founding a working team. Sigulda Municipality, for its part, takes responsibility for finances, marketing and organization issues. „In that way, I’ll have less stress, but also a bigger responsibility to justify the trust I’ve been given from my business partners,” says Dainis Kalns.
