* “Staro Rīga 2014”

The streets and squares of Riga. 14th-18th of November

During the Festival of Light “Staro Rīga” (Beaming Riga), multiple light installations are set up in the city to be viewed up close as well as from a distance, temporarily becoming part of Riga’s urban environment. Facades, bridges, monuments and parks become the media of art and video technology, as well as light installation exhibits. A number of music and theatrical performances will round off the festival. Each festival visitor is not just an observer but a contributor as active participation by the public is often essential to the way a project is implemented.

This year the festival will be held for the seventh time and, with a particularly spectacular programme, is part of the European Capital of Culture programme of Riga.
