Bach’s Passions Streamed Live on Our Portal!

The first concert in the Riga 2014 series „Bach. Passion. Riga” begins in the Riga Dom at 7 p.m. on the 4th of April, featuring Johann Sebastian Bach’s St Mark Passion and Latvian composer Ēriks Ešenvalds’ St. Luke Passion, composed ten years after his popular opus „Passion and Resurrection”.

„Bach. Passion. Riga” is an international project created by conductor Sigvards Kļava, bringing together outstanding baroque music interpreters from Switzerland and Denmark, the Latvian Radio Choir and the „Sinfonietta Riga” orchestra.

Soloists for the concert in the Riga Dom are soprano Ieva Parša, countertenor Sergejs Jēgers, tenor Jānis Kurševs and baritone Daumants Kalniņš. Conductor – Sigvards Kļava.

The next concerts in the „Bach. Passion. Riga” series are scheduled for the 11th of April in St Peter’s Church (Bach’s St Matthew Passion) and the 18th of April in St John’s Church (Bach’s St John Passion).

This concert series is part of the „Riga 2014” thematic line „Thirst for the Ocean”.
