Riga to Also Become European Blues Capital 2014
The main event in European blues music this year, the “European Blues Challenge”, is hosted by the Latvian Blues Appreciation Society in collaboration with the European Blues Union and other partners.
The annual event (held in Berlin in 2010-2012 and Toulouse in 2013) brings together blues enthusiasts and musicians, festival and concert organisers, media, agencies, record labels and other professionals. More than 200 members of the European Blues Union, eighty musicians and fans from all over Europe are already packing to go to Riga.
According to the EBC rules, the winners of the national stage of the competition will each give a twenty-minute performance, which will be assessed by an international jury. In 2013, Gints Žilinskis’ trio represented Latvia in Toulouse, the band “Chehols” did so in Berlin a year before that, whereas this year, Vladislavs Lavrinovičs’ “Lavrix Band” will represent Latvia at the competition.
In keeping with the tradition, a CD with pieces by all competition participants will be released in honour of the event.
In addition to the concert, Riga will also host the European Blues Union’s General Assembly, whereas blues music fans will have an opportunity to find out more about blues in Europe by attending the “Blues Open Market” fair, in which over fifty blues recording labels, musicians, media and organisations will participate. Admission by tickets to the competition concert.
Tickets to the two-day show are available from “Biļešu serviss” and “Ticketpro” outlets, and tickets to particular concerts will be available at “Sapņu fabrika” before the concert on the night.. Due to the large number of tickets booked for the show, only a limited number of tickets are on sale at the moment.
Inquiries about VIP tickets and media accreditation should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The venues open at 6:30 p.m. for the show, and the concerts start at 8 p.m.
