Coming to win the TV3 ‘Choir Wars’ singing contest, Rēzekne Green Hills Choir has received a pass to World Choir Games – to compete in the Pop-music / show category of the Champions’ league of this event.

Thus, Rēzekne Green Hills Choir ranges as the first presented participant of the World Choir Games from Latvia – an event to be held in the capital of Latvia as part of 'Riga 2014' program.

‘The World Choir Games in Riga will be a unique experience for the
participants of the contests. Riga will see visits of very strong show program
quires from all over the world, and we are particularly glad that the privilege to be part of it has fallen to a quire enthusiastically received by our professionals and audiences alike,’ the chair of the foundation 'Riga 2014' Diāna Čivle greeted the winners of the selection.

The jury member of the channel TV3 show Ieva Kerēvice recognized that ‘the show as a format is a new experience for our singers. My wish is for our show choirs to demonstrate their best form in the most professional performance we are able to prepare for. I really hope we can do it.’

Gaining equal amount of the points as their Rēzekne counterparts, Cēsis Carmine Flag Choir came honorable second in the ‘Choir Wars,’ therefore, the winner – Rēzekne choir – was left to be the audience choice.

The World Choir Games will take part in Riga in July 9-19, 2014, when 20 000
singers from 70 states will compete in 29 contest categories, including sacred, folk, jazz, contemporary music and many more.

As has been reported before, quires from Latvia enjoy special terms of selection for the World Choir Games.
