XI “Kremerata Baltica” Festival “Riga’s Stars” in Early July
The festival will open with an official presentation of Gidon Kremer’s book “A Letter to a Young Pianist” at the “Splendid Palace” cinema. Gidon Kremer will dedicate the next day of the festival to Rigans Žanis and Johanna Lipke, whereas two concerts in Sigulda will feature the “Kremerata Baltica” orchestra performing together with violinist Baiba Skride, pianist Lauma Skride, accordionist Ksenija Sidorova, and the young and very talented violinist Daniils Bulajevs. The Swiss conductor Jacques Cohen will be a special guest of the festival. The festival is being organised in co-operation with the “Riga 2014” foundation’s creative team.
Wednesday, the 2nd of July at 8 p.m., the “Splendid Palace” cinema – film night “Gidon’s Riga”. Official presentation of Gidon Kremer’s book “A Letter to a Young Pianist”. Exhibition “Born in Riga – Famous Worldwide”.
Thursday, the 3rd of July at 7 p.m., the Great Guild Hall – “Žanis & Johanna. Love”. Participants: the “Kremerata Baltica” orchestra, soloists Gidon Kremer, Giedrė Dirvanauskaitė, Andrei Pushkarev. Set design by Reinis Suhanovs, director – Viktors Jansons.
Friday, the 4th of July at 7 p.m., the “Baltais flīģelis” concert hall in Sigulda – “Masters and Masterpieces”. Orchestra “Kremerata Baltica”. Conductor Jacques Cohen, soloist – Lauma Skride.
Saturday, the 5th of July at 6 p.m., the “Baltais flīģelis” concert hall in Sigulda – “Time for Schubert. Love and Loneliness”. Participants: the “Kremerata Baltica” orchestra, soloists Baiba Skride, Ksenija Sidorova, Daniils Bulajevs and Andrei Pushkarev.
