Sixth Concert in the “Organ Music Under the Aegis of BACH” Series
The sixth concert in the “Organ Music Under the Aegis of BACH” will feature three organists – Kristīne Adamaite, Ligita Sneibe un Aija Ziņģīte – and saxophonist Artis Sīmanis performing in the Riga Dom at 7 p.m. on the 8th of August and in Dubulti Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jūrmala at 6 p.m. on the 10th of August.
The programme of the concert includes one of the most famous works for organ by Johann Sebastian Bach – Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor, BWV 582, and Johann Gottfried Müthel’s Fantasy in F dur, performed by organist Aija Ziņģīte. Ligita Sneibe will play one of the most complex and monumental works by the German romantic composer Max Reger (the greatest organ composer after Johann Sebastian Bach) – Fantasy and Fugue on BACH. Finally, organist Kristīne Adamaite and saxophonist Artis Sīmanis will perform Latvian composer Georgs Pelēcis’ Contemplation Liturgy. The composition is made up of the parts of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Organ Mass and Georgs Pelēcis’ Liturgy compositions inspired by them – the composer’s contemplations about Bach’s music expressed through the saxophone’s monologues and dialogues with the organ.
The performances will be filmed on camera so the audience could watch everything the musicians do on a large screen.
