The annual festival for adventurous music “Skaņu mežs” will be taking place at the “Daile” Music Hall on the 10th and 11th of October, this year the festival is part of the “Thirst for the Ocean” thematic line of the “Riga 2014” Programme.

The festival this year continues to explore latest or historically-important innovative music, with the emphasis on such phenomena as extreme computer music, free improvisation, electro-acoustics, experimental dance music, avant-garde pop, and audiovisual performances.

The latest edition of the festival will be characterised by a subtle balance between the electronic and the acoustic, both in the programme of the festival as well as within particular performances. This in order to defend the idea that progress and innovation in music depends foremost on bold ideas and flexible language, not just technology.

“Skaņu mežs” is a founding member of the European network of festivals E.C.A.S. (European Cities of Advanced Sound). The festival is recognised as the largest experimental and adventurous music event in the Baltic states.

Tickets cost EUR 20 per day or EUR 30 for both days.
