Riga to Host the Amber Hockey World Cup for Veterans in 2014

In 2014, alongside the magnificent events of the European Capital of Culture, Riga will also host the Dzintara Rīga (Amber Riga) World Hockey Cup.

According to the organizers, 140 hockey teams will participate in the championship. Players will meet teams from their own age group on the field – 19-35; 35+; 40+; 45+; 50+; 55+; 60+; 65+ and 70+. Female hockey teams will also take part. Together, several thousands of people will visit and get to know the charming city of Riga.

The veteran cup brings together people of various ages with a passion for hockey, who combine participation in the world cup with the chance to travel the world, relax and gain new impressions together with their families.

The Hockey World Cup is held every two years. This year, it took place in Canada, and our veteran team Vecmeistars (Old Master) came back as champions in the +45 age group.

The hockey championship is planned for spring 2014 – April 29 to May 4.
