Conference on New Forms of Participation for Citizens. Video Recording
The programme of the conference is available at www.ccnriga.com.
The conference focussed on the methodology and strategy of how to foster an intercultural dialogue between European citizens by using digital technologies. Based on the experience from the previous and current European Capital of Cultures, the potential of the use of digital technologies in the future European Capital of Cultures and possible challenges were discussed.
The conference was part of the “Connecting Cities Network” initiative – a European Union-funded artistic research project that builds up a European and worldwide network of media facades and projection walls as platforms and forums for the public audience. The “Connecting Cities Network” gives artists the opportunity to show their projects to a large number of European residents, sharing their ideas and future visions.
In conclusion of the conference, participants were informed about the “Staro Rīga 2014” festival of light, its history, organisation, and the programme for this year. “Staro Rīga 2014” became the largest light festival in Northern Europe this year, featuring a large number of objects by international artists.
