Expertisecentre and projectorganisation K&C (the Netherlands), WerkStadt Kulturverein Berlin (Germany), Ikertze (Spain) and Foundation Riga 2014 (Latvia) have received a grant from the European Commission to expand the project “October Children’s Month” with an exchange program in the European cities Riga, San Sebastian and Berlin and different regions in the Netherlands.

The aim of October children’s month is to stimulate children and their (grand) parents to participate in arts and culture activities in an accessible way.

Ambitions are clearly shown in the joint application. Over the next few years each country will pay attention to the perception of children and (grand-) parents together. Cultural institutions and artists are encouraged to develop art-, heritage- or media- activities that appeal to both young and old and which parents and children can do together.

This year an international congress will be organized in the Netherlands with the title ‘motivating parents’. The program for 2013 and 2014 includes international exchanges and an ‘artist in residence’ project.

The European Commission received a total of 476 grant proposals. 114 applications were approved. The application of K&C and its partners is awarded 98 out of 100 points and was rated as the fifth best in Europe.

With this success the consortium of partners has received wings We  are not only looking for sponsors to fulfil all our ambitions, but we will also contact other cultural capitals for possible cooperation. In 2020 we hope to have introduced the project October children’s month in 15 countries.
