Västerbotten's Museum will reopen this weekend, on 14 and 15 June, in Umea, Sweden. Umea is also the European Capital of Culture next year.

Västerbotten's Museum will reopen this weekend, on 14 and 15 June, in Umea, Sweden. Umea is also the European Capital of Culture next year.

Three new exhibitions are to be opened by this weekend together with a new cafe and "Minimus" education centre for children.
 
Several creative workshops, musical and dance performances as well as readings and lectures will be held both days.
 
Västerbotten's Museum is one of "Umea 2014" places where programme events will be available. The museum will curate "Rock Art in Sápmi" events cycle dedicated to traditions, symbols and cave paintings of Sami living in Scandinavia, Finland and Northern Russia.
 
An exhibition in cooperation with Västerbotten's Museum called "Eight seasons of Sami family" is still available at the Open-Air Ethnographic Museum. The exhibition presents photos and other signs of culture. It' s an surprising and unique story for Latvians audience that presents Sami daily routine connected with their traditions showing a rough beauty of their culture.
