Opening of "Esplanāde 2014"
16.00 Official opening
17.30 Singer Jolanta Gulbe-Paškeviča, saxophone virtuoso Deniss Paškevičs and Hans Antehed trio preformances.
20.00 Performance of J. Mediņs Music School brass band.
"Esplanāde 2014" official opening night ends with the performance of J.Mediņš Music School brass band. It's one of the oldest brass bands in Latvia with students from J.Mediņš Music School who have chosen professional careers in music. Jānis Retenais will conduct the band. Together with Andis Karelis they have managed to gain international recognition with professional and high quality music programmes.
Friday, 28 June
10.00 – 11.00 Presentation of a stamp dedicated to Latvian Song and Dance Festival with greetings from Anrijs Matīss, Minister for Transport and "Latvijas Pasts" management.
17.00 "Folkvakars" ("Folk Evening") band performance. They use several instruments such as bagpipes, accordion, violin, drums, contrabass and guitar. Therefore, the folk sound they create is really cheerful. Everyone is invited to watch the concert by joining in a dance or singing to melodies from Latvian folk music repertoire.
19.00 – 23.00 Opening show of Friday concert series at "Esplanāde 2014". Well-known, experimental rock/folk band "Dzelzs Vilks" together with "Jaunais Jāņu orķestris" ("The New Jāņi Orchestra") will perform. Kaspars Zaviļeiskis, Editor-in-Chief of "Rīga 2014" portal, will host the event also playing folk music DJ set.
Saturday, 29 June
16.00 – 18.00 Rūdolfs Blaumanis 150 years anniversary
Several excerpts and songs from a theatre comedy "Trīnes grēki" ("Sins of Trīne") will be showed while celebrating Blaumanis' 150 years anniversary.
21.00 Latvian movies night in cooperation with National Film Centre of Latvia. "Ķīlnieks", 2006 ("The Hostage", made in 2006), a film by Laila Pakalniņa will be showed. Also adults animation movie "Latvietis" will be demonstrated ("A Latvian") directed by Jānis Cimmermanis and "Kora turneja" ("A choir's tour") directed by Edmunds Jansons.
Sunday, 30 June
Activities for children and adults. Animation movies and creative workshops will be presented.
12.00 – 14.00 Animation movies for children.
16.00 – 18.00 Activities for mums and dads. Creating paper artworks.
Monday, 1 July
12.00 – 13.00 "Lattelecom" campaign "Uzgavilē savējiem!" ("Cheer to your people!").
"Lattelecom" announces a campaign where everyone will be able to create an interactive greeting at "Esplanāde 2014" for his favourite collective of Latvian Song and Dance Festival. Greetings will be demonstrated during the Festival walk. It is possible to send the greeting in here, as well.
Tuesday, 2 July
17.00 – 18.00 Latvian Song and Dance Festival guest collectives performances.
Batumi female chamber choir and their creative leaders Zaira Vadachkoria and Gela Vadachkoria (Georgia) will perform, also yodellers choir "Jodlerclub Teufen" and dance group "Gaia Dancers" with creative leaders Hansueli Hersche and Andieas Hofmann (Switzerland), students and teachers choir from Ulyanovsk State University together with their creative leader Larisa Filyanina (Russia).
21.15–23.15 Broadcast of XXV Latvian Song and XV Dance Festival, „Jāzepam Vītolam – 150” concert.
Wednesday, 3 July
15.00 – 17.00 Latvian Song and Dance Festival guest collectives performances.
Folk ensemble "Plai de Dor" (Romania), mixed choir „Kehrwiederchor” with the creative leader Hans-Dieter Lubrich (Germany) and „Shanty Chor Bremen – Mahndorf” will perform.
17.00 – 18.00 Early music ensemble "Canto" from Latvia University will perform.
Ensemble takes part at Bauska Early Music Festival on a regular basis also performing in Latvian castles, festivals and competitions in Germany, Austria, France, Czech Republic, Poland, Estonia, Lithuania and Russia. Their repertoire is mainly concentrated on Gothic and Renaissance music genres. Creative leader is Kristīne Gaile, vocal teacher – Andris Gailis.
21.20–23.55 Broadcast of XXV Latvian Song and XV Dance Festival, vocal symphony orchestra concert at „Arēna Rīga”.
Thursday, 4 July
We invite everyone to enjoy the atmosphere of Song and Dance Festival in a relaxing mood while sitting in comfortable chairs and watching greatest activities of the Festival on our big screens.
21.15 - 22.00 Performances of minorities collectives.
21.20–23.00 Broadcast of XXV Latvian Song and XV Dance Festival, minorities concert show „Zem vienas debess” („Underneath one sky”).
Friday, 5 July
12.00–13.00 Time counting until World Choir Games will start.
We will start counting time until World Choir Games together with Latvian and foreign collectives as well as a unique singing travelling choir. The event will be held next year, in Riga.
14.00 – 16.30 „Umea 2014” presentation
We invite to discover Umea, a city that is going to be The European Capital of Culture in 2014. Several movies will be showed together with music performances.
Representatives of Umea, a city located in North Sweden, will present their programme for "Umea 2014" and will also inform about various tourism offers.
16.30 – 18.00 Sami band "Jorgen Stenberg" with the leader Jorgen Stenberg will perform. He is also known as environmental activist in Sweden. The band plays traditional Sami songs in a contemporary mode. Jorgen has been awarded for his investment in spreading traditional joik music around the world in order to share Sami traditions.
18.40 – 19.40 „Grodi” concert.
"Grodi" participants have learned several vocal folk music genres such as one-voiced and many-voiced songs including traditional many-voiced singing styles, recitative, refrain, etc. Several new and early music instruments are used in their performances. "Grodi" usually sings in authentic manner and has had many concerts in The Baltic States, Poland, Russia, Germany, Kazakhstan, Denmark, Finland, France, Portugal, Belgium and Japan.

From 11.00, several folk ensembles will perform during the day.

Creative workshops and activities for children.
19.00–04.10 Broadcast of XXV Latvian Song and XV Dance Festival, closing concert „Līgo” and singalong of the people.
