World Choir Games participants announced

Four Latvian choirs got the opportunity to perform at World Choir Games champion competitions in summer, 2014. Ther results were announced during the ceremony of XXV Latvian Song and Dance Festival Choir competition on 29 June, informed Linda Pastere, public relations manager of "Rīga 2014" foundation.

Following choirs chosen for World Choir Games competition:

Youth choir "Maska" ("The Mask"), Babite region, conductor Jānis Ozols

Girls choir "Spīgo". 4th Jelgava High School, conductor Līga Celma-Kursiete

Male choir "Forte", Daugavpils Latvian Culture Centre, conductor Jevgenijs Ustinskovs

Mixed seniors choir "Atvasara" ("Indian summer"), Krustpils Culture House, conductor Skaidrīte Pugača

"Green Hills" choir from Rezekne, also a winner of "Koru kari 3" ("Choir contest 3") was the first to have place at World Choir Games. They will join the chempions contest category of show choirs.

World Choir Games will be held on 9 to 19 July, 2014, in Riga. 20 000 participants from seventy countries will compete in 29 contest categories including sacred and folk music, jazz, contemporary music, etc.

Also several large-scale concerts, participants walk and masterclasses leaded by "The Real Group" band from Sweden and "The King's Singers" from Great Britain will be held. Morten Lauridsen, USA composer, has agreed to join as the special guest of the Games.

All Latvian choirs are invited to use "early bird" registration until 15 September with special conditions. Registration closes on 1 December. Different conditions will be adjusted after 15 September.
