Guide to the Future

Description:

Audiovisual workshops in Ziepniekkalns and Čiekurkalns schools for the study and development of the surrounding areas to ensure a better quality of life. The project includes three workshops where professional artists together with schoolchildren will create audiovisual works of art, presenting their vision of the beautification and development of the surrounding areas. Workshop participants will also attend brainstorming get-togethers of local residents that, in co-operation with designers, will develop and implement specific beautification and development projects in Ziepniekkalns and Čiekurkalns.

The project “Guide to the Future” continues with audiovisual workshops where children from the Pārdaugava Music and Art School create their own stories about the life of the neighbourhood and its residents, under the supervision of artist Dace Pudāne. The stories they have created will be presented to the public at the new square during the “Staro Rīga” festival of light on the 15th of November from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Project description:

Active Neighbourhoods is a series of events that make living in a city more inspiring and foster a sense of belonging and responsibility for the area we live in. Activities proposed and implemented by residents of Riga continue throughout 2014 in various neighbourhoods of the city. These include tours of the area planned and guided by locals, artistic meetings en plein air, photography campaigns, celebrations, festivals, lectures and discussions, which all centre on people and their infinite wish to invent and create something new, receive guests and have a great time with them.
