The emotion-filled concert will see a meeting of boys’ choirs from the three Baltic States: the Riga Dom Boys’ Choir and Jāzeps Mediņš Riga 1st Music School boys’ choir, boys’ choir “Ažoliukas” from Lithuania and the Estonian National Opera boys’ choir. They will perform together with the world-famous composer Morten Lauridsen and a symphony orchestra.
Morten Lauridsen is one of the best-known contemporary American composers. His music occupies an important place in the repertoire of 20th-century vocal music. The World Choir Games is the largest international quire singing event on the planet and, not without reason, is known as the choir singing Games. The next such event will take place in Riga as part of the program of Riga – the European Capital of Culture. Ten years ago, the board of the world choir Games was joined by maestro Imants Kokars who has devoted great efforts to bringing event of this cope to Latvia, which is known as one of the quire singing giants. From 2008, his work was taken over by conductor Romāns Vanags.
