“Me and Art” for Adults


Opportunity to explore art through one’s personal experience. During the classes, the artworks displayed in the museum become objects of research and are used as samples for drawing assignments. The drawing classes “Me and Art” are meant for anyone from the age of ten and upwards, the classes are run by artist and teacher Baiba Sprance.
Participants are expected to bring along oil pastels.
The classes are held on Thursdays, the 11th, 18th and 25th of September at 3 p.m., and Saturdays, the 13th, 20th and 27th of September at 12 noon.

Project description:

“In Search of Future Art. Voldemārs Matvejs and non-European (African, Pacific, North Asian) Art” is a multidisciplinary project aimed at popularising the work of the Latvian painter, theorist and researcher Voldemārs Matvejs (1877-1914), taking into account his unique contribution to studies of art and culture in Africa, Pacific and Northern Asia in the early 20th century.
