The Latvian National Library will host the 12th Russian/CIS/Baltic/Japanese Ferroelectricity Symposium and 9th international conference “Functional Materials and Nanotechnologies –RCBJSF – 2014 - FM&NT”. The symposium will focus on achievements in nanotechnologies, modelling new materials and using them in manufacture, energy, optics, photonics, biomedicine and elsewhere. In addition, the symposium is hoped to further international co-operation in science, education and innovations.
Registration of participants and a meeting of the international advisory committee, attended by high-profile experts from scientific institutions, will start on the 29th of September at 4 p.m. For several days, work will continue in four sections where students and scientists from 29 countries will be presenting their researches. Plenary lectures will be read by five keynote speakers: Mitsury Itoh (Japan), Tomi Laurila (Finland), Juris Purāns (Latvia), Stefan Schweizer (Germany), Alexander Sigov (Russia).

The “Riga 2014” foundation in co-operation with the Ministry of Economy and State Tourism Development Agency are implementing the International Cultural Conferences Support Programme. The aim of the programme is to foster the image of Riga as a cultural metropolis and popularise Latvia around the globe.
