Opportunity to study artefacts in virtual environment with the help of stereo 3D and kinect, where one can “touch” art and experience the joy of discovery. The game is an interactive journey through the areas in Egypt from which the Ancient Egyptian artefacts in the collection of the Latvian National Museum of Art have come. The game also features Latvia’s only facial reconstruction of an Ancient Egyptian mummy. The goal of the project is to present a new way to experience art. Every exhibit can be viewed closer in the virtual environment, offering the opportunity to see and discover something new that would be impossible to see if a given item was in a display case.

Exhibition “The Amber of Tutankhamun” will be presented as interplay between the latest technology and ancient artefacts. The exhibition will showcase artefacts from the Ancient Egyptian cult of the afterlife that have travelled to Riga from the National Museums of the Baltic countries and the National Museum in Warsaw. The exhibition will also present archaeological amber, emphasising the ancient trade routes to transport amber from the Baltics to other regions where they became historic cultural artefacts.
The exhibition is being organised in co-operation with the Čiurlionis National Museum of Art in Kaunas (Lithuania), Estonian History Museum, several museums in Italy, National Museum in Warsaw, British Museum, National History Museum of Latvia and University of Latvia, and in collaboration with leading researchers from the Ancient Egypt Department of the Louvre.
