The central event of "Survival Kit 5" will be an exhibition, symposium "Slow revolution. Art and culture in institutional and territorial periphery." Also some additional events will be held. Such artists as "The Yes Men" (USA), Johanna Billing (Sweden), Minna L. Henriksson (Finland), Gabriel Lester (the Netherlands), Harun Farocki (Germany), Matthieu Laurette (France), Oliver Ressler (Austria), Ane Hjort Guttu (Norway), Sasha Kurmaz (the Ukraine), Leonards Laganovskis, Ivars Drulle, Krišs Salmanis, Vilnis Putrāms (all from Latvia), etc.

Project description:

The international contemporary art festival “Survival Kit 6” will take place at two venues in Riga this year: in Wagner Hall in Riga’s Old Town and in the former textiles factory “Boļševička” at Ganību dambis 30. From the 4th to the 27th of September, the festival will offer art exhibitions, a symposium, performances, creative workshops, and film screenings. More than 70 artists from 25 countries participate in the festival. The theme for the festival this year is “Utopian City”, the festival is organised by the Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art.
