Riga self | portraits


Exhibition “Riga Self/Portraits" presents self-portraits by hundreds of residents from Ķengarags, Jugla, Torņkalns, Bolderāja and other neighbourhoods of Riga, as well as series of portraits and multimedia works by several artists. Exhibition participants: Marcos López (AR), Iveta Vaivode, Andris Kozlovskis, Andrejs Strokins, Kaspars Goba, Aija Bley (LV), Vesa Aaltonen (FI), Vincen Beeckman (BE), Eva Voutsaki (GR/UK), Bahbak Hashemi-Nezhad (UK). The exhibition also features several creative workshops and gives the visitors a chance to create their self-portraits. The exhibition is open Tuesday to Sunday from 12 noon to 8 p.m.

Project description:

2012 through 2014, residents of Ķengarags, Bolderāja, Jugla and other neighbourhoods of Riga participate in various creative workshops to create their photographic self-portraits with the help of foreign and Latvian artists. Any Rigan is welcome to submit his or her self-portrait that together will eventually create a joint portrait of the capital city. “Riga Self | Portraits” is part of the international community art project “Contemporary Self Portraits”, which in Latvia is run by the ISSP Association.
