Military bands from various countries have been invited to Riga to jointly create a colourful military parade and participate in concerts. The main participants are the Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces, the band of the Neubrandenburg Land Forces of the Bundeswehr, the band of the National Reserve Corps of the Royal Netherlands Army and others.
On the 6th of July, orchestras will perform concerts in the regions of Latvia: the Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces will perform in the garden of Sigulda New Castle at 11 a.m., the Orchestra of the Neubrandenburg Land Forces of the Bundeswehr will give concert at Ogre Culture Centre at 12 noon, the Orchestra of the National Reserve of the Royal Netherlands Army will perform at the Jelgava Culture Centre at 12 noon, and the Central Orchestra of the Georgian Armed Forces will perform at the “Origo” shopping centre on the Central Railway Station Square in Riga also at 12 noon. The U.S. Army Europe Band will perform a concert at the culture chalet “Esplanade 2014” at 2:30 p.m., and the festival’s closing concert at Ķīpsala Exhibition Hall will start at 5 p.m. Participants in the closing concert: Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces, Orchestra of the National Reserve of the Royal Netherlands Army, Orchestra of the Neubrandenburg Land Forces of the Bundeswehr, Central Orchestra of the Georgian Armed Forces, U.S. Army Europe Band, Georgian professional folkdance ensemble “Erisioni”, Staff Orchestra of the National Armed Forces, the Home Guard Orchestra, National Armed Forces’ dance ensembles “Bramaņi” and “Dižbramaņi”, Rūjiena dance ensemble “Luste”, Brenguļi dance group “Dzieti”, National Armed Forces’ Big Band, and men’s choir “Gaudeamus”.

Although the practical importance of military bands has changed greatly, they still retain their symbol of power and demonstrate the close relationship between freedom, power and culture. During the meet-up in Riga, military bands will parade through the Old Town and perform the festival's opening concert at the Freedom Monument. The military bands will also perform concerts in Latvia's regions and participate in the gala parade in Riga that will close the festival.
