In 2014, the festival’s theme is “Utopian City”, inviting people to look at the city as a complex and unfinished structure, as a place that does not exist. The international symposium “Urban Utopia: Art and Culture as a Tool for Exploring and Researching a City” will take place from the 12th to the 14th September to discuss theoretical and practical aspects of the contemporary concept of utopia. Foreign lecturers and local experts will focus on a variety of areas which concern urban environment – anthropology, sociology, the practices of art and architecture, philosophy and others. Japanese artist Ryoji Ikeda’s audio-visual concert “datamatics [ver.2.0]” will also take place as part of the “Survival Kit 6” Festival, on the 7th of September at the “Splendid Palace” cinema.
