Austrian choreographer Willy Dorner will visit Riga and work with 10-12 choreographers and dancers from Latvia, developing performances in Sarkandaugava. The creative process as well as performances will predominantly take place in the cityscape, fusing with the everyday life of the neighborhood and allowing the locals and by-passers to become observers of creation of art work.
Willy Dorner is working on a major project in Riga that involves eight households in Sarkandaugava neighbourhood, seven Latvian dancers, and thirty dance students. The project is being implemented in urban environment and in private apartments.
“The Living Room” – live installations in cityscape and photography exhibitions in eight apartments in Sarkandaugava – will be on the 12th of September from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on the 13th of September from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In 2014, Riga will become an action-site for the recognized choreographers of contemporary dance, who will engage the young artists of dance from Latvia in process of search and creativity aimed at finding new sites for dance and generating professional pieces of contemporary dance outside their traditional studios, theatre houses and platforms. The subject of the project research will be potential of urban environment to become the stage of contemporary dance.
